Kathy Curlee
Monday through Friday at our Farmington Hills studio there's a
student who just makes it to class just before the door closes.
Monday through Friday she heads to the front row, eager for class
to begin. Monday through Friday she comes to class… no excuse. This
determined student is Kathy Curlee, our special July
Student of the Month.
A loving wife, driven business owner, and mother of 3, you would
think she has no time for yoga. Not Kathy. After her very first
class she was hooked. Results soon followed: an increase in energy,
glowing skin, and weight loss.
Kathy now comes to class 5 days a week, every week. She even
practices to Bikram's CD while away on vacation! Now just over 10
years of practice she's still going strong and can't imagine her
life without it. She wishes to one day become a Bikram Yoga teacher
herself.
Kathy Curlee has become a true "regular" at our Farmington Hills
studio and we can't imagine teaching a morning class without her,
front row and center.
"My very first experience with Bikram Yoga was 10 years ago,
when a friend talked me into going to class with her. It was my
birthday and she wanted to take me out for breakfast, but we went
to yoga first.
When I first walked into the room, I felt like it was 200
degrees! I thought for sure I wasn't going to be able to stand it.
I know yoga is supposed to be for meditation and relaxation, but
with the heat all I could think about was when the class would
end!
I was impressed with myself for staying in the room the whole
class, but of course I didn't do many of the poses. I was mainly
there for observing the class itself.

After class I felt amazing! The next day I called my friend to
tell her that I need to go back to Bikram Yoga! During that time I
had a terrible sinus infection, but soon after going to class for
two weeks, Monday through Friday, it seemed to go away. Not only
that but my skin was glowing for days after which was so
awesome!
I knew that if I felt that great so quickly, that Bikram Yoga
had a lot to offer me; for my overall health, skin, meditation, and
stress management.

I was hooked. I talked to my husband and told him that I have
got to do Bikram Yoga every single day, which is what made me
happy. He didn't think that I was serious about it, until now, it's
been ten years and I'm still going strong!
I love the exercise part of Bikram Yoga, I love being able to
sweat and then right after feel rejuvenated like I am ready to take
on the day, or even run a marathon! I found something that I really
love, and cherish. I have even noticed that doing yoga has helped
me in losing weight, and that feels so great!!!

With everyday stresses, like running a business with my husband,
taking care of a family, I find that doing Bikram Yoga on a regular
basis makes me happy. I even seem to have energy to do all the
things that a normal mom with a job wouldn't be able to handle. I'm
a mom of three kids who have me running all over the place, come
home, clean and cook dinner. I even have a night job cleaning; and
by doing yoga every morning, I am able to have the necessary energy
that I need to do all of this.
I can say with all honesty, that ten years ago walking into a
Bikram Yoga class I thought I was never going to go back there, but
it was the greatest experience of my life! I am fully committed to
it. It has done a ton of wonderful things for me, from my health to
appearance. Bikram Yoga is an awesome place and I would strongly
suggest that if anyone is going or thinking about going, you will
be more than pleased when you show up!!!!"
